Volunteer
Many men want to help build a violence-free community. MANifest Change connects you with the skills and resources to prevent gender-based violence. Acting as allies means that we learn from women and LGBTQ2IS advocates, practice accountability, and hone our skills to prevent common situations of sexual harassment, sexual assault and partner abuse.
Help raise awareness
We attend public events and organize gatherings of men to educate ourselves, practice accountability, strengthen and encourage each other. You may be interested in joining OCTEVAW’s Public Engagement Committee to organize community awareness campaigns or you may choose to get involved with fundraising to support OCTEVAW’s member agencies.
Time commitment: variable
Support women and LGBTQ2IS advocates
At times, women and LGBTQ2IS advocates invite MANifest Change volunteers to accompany them to events where our presence helps other men take gender-based violence seriously. The presence of other men can reduce the possibility that audience members will harass advocates. Effective accompaniment is about a calm, supportive presence rather than a “bodyguard” approach.
Time commitment: Minimum of 24 hours over one year on weekdays, evenings or weekends.
